Strawberry Fields Everywhere and a little Bunny Luv

I admit it, I like the movie Sahara.  Amidst the cheesy-ness, there are some great humorous moments and lines.  One of my favorite lines is when Al says, “Hey, you know my dad collected ancient coins, from Rome, China, Siam, Persia… somehow they all ended up in a shoe box in New Jersey.”  He’s trying to convince his friend Dirk that things travel.  You never know where they could end up.

Living in Thailand has its surprises, surprises of all shapes and sizes.  A few of those surprises are about things that travel – moments that make me say, how did that get here?!

Two examples from the Rimping Supermarket I love so much:

You may recognize this package – delicious Driscoll’s strawberries from Watsonville, CA.  Sadly, it takes TIME to travel… look at the yellow tops of these jet-lagged berries.

Grimmway Farms carrots, and the Bunny Luv carrots that were right next door, are packaged in Bakersfield, CA.  And in 10th grade, I went to my friend’s grandparents’ ranch in Nevada that was right next to a farm that grew Grimmway carrots.  At least these travel a little better than berries, but would you like to pay 149 baht for a pound of carrots?  At the time of this posting, that’s $4.49.
